The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced Continuous Voters’ Registration (CVR) on April 27, 2017. As of July 2018, about 10 million new voters had been registered.
For the 2015 presidential elections – 28.5 million people voted out of 67.4 million registered voters. INEC targeted 80 million voters by elections in 2019 but is on track to surpass it.
The Commission announced that it will suspend the ongoing CVR exercise on Friday, August 17th until after the general elections next year.
